1901 restaurant introduces the City of London to an entirely fresh and dynamic approach to fine dining. The menu has been built around a respect for the best and most diverse home grown produce that Britain has to offer, which 1901 delivers in style.
Set in what was once the Great Eastern Hotel’s original ballroom, this magnificent Grade two listed room provides a stunning setting to dine at any time of the day. On arrival guests can enjoy pre-dinner cocktails and Champagne in 1901’s Wine Bar, or around the main restaurant’s centrepiece ‘floating’ Cocktail Bar. Set underneath one of London’s original stained glass domes, our bartender serves from the outside of the bar so our guests can enjoy the interaction as their cocktail comes to life.
As a backdrop to the restaurant, a dedicated cheese and wine cellar entices guests to taste the best of British cheeses and top wines from around the world, guided by our professional sommeliers and cheese specialists.

Group bookings of up to 25 people can be accommodated for all dining times, and up to 12 guests can be seated around the unique rustic cheese & wine table.

Dinner by candlelight
On entering 1901, guests will be blown away by the spectacular sight and smell of over 350 candles twinkling against the magnificent backdrop of this former ballroom.
To make Candlelight Evenings come to life, it requires the team of over 10 people to light up the entire room, making this a unique and unforgettable dining experience. Candlelight Evenings are suited to all types of guests; dining with friends in an unusual setting, for a celebratory occasion, or for more of a romantic evening.
While listening to soothing live music, diners can enjoy an extensive a la carte menu.
